SENIOR REVENUE ACCOUNTANT

Our client is looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant that is detail-oriented, hands-on, results-driven individual with proven communication skills and a strong work ethic to work in a challenging, fast-paced, energetic environment. This person will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures, accounting research, technical position papers, project accounting, software and SaaS revenue recognition, system enhancement/automation projects, SOX narratives and process implementation, financial audit, month-end close, flux and ad-hoc analysis, etc. This person will be involved in the adoption of the new revenue standard (ASC 606). This position will report to the Manager, Revenue. The successful candidate must work well in a team environment while being a resourceful, independent self-starter, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform contract reviews to determine the appropriate accounting treatment & document conclusions
  • Assist with system automation and implementation projects
  • Assist with development of accounting policies and system implementation to support adoption of the new revenue recognition standard (ASC 606)
  • Assist with month-end close deliverables and prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses
  • Prepare or review periodic fair value analyses (e.g., VSOE & BESP)
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests
  • Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of internal controls surrounding revenue recognition (quote-to-cash) process
  • Research and evaluate the impact of current and new accounting pronouncements
  • Assist with/lead ad-hoc reporting requests and projects as needed

 

Required Skills/Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (accounting emphasis is preferred) plus 3-4 years of revenue recognition work experience
  • Big 4 experience required and an active CPA preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large data sets, excel models or schedules
  • Experience in performing technical revenue research, including detailed knowledge of the new revenue standard (ASC 606) and relevant current accounting rules (e.g. SAB 104, ASC 605-25, ASC 605-50, ASU 2009-13, and ASC 985-605) relating to software, SaaS, and services revenue recognition
  • Experience with the development and implementation of internal controls for SOX 404 compliance
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized individual with the ability to manage multiple assignments and work with tight deadlines
  • Ability to expand job responsibilities, suggest improvements, and collaborate with others to generate ideas for improved processes
