Our client is a private late stage pre-IPO company located in Sunnyvale. They are a Unicorn company with over $1 billion in funding.
The Senior Revenue Accounting Manager reports to the Senior Director of Revenue Operations. In this position, he or she will oversee and own the entire revenue close process. We are looking for folks that want to scale controls, improve processes, and leave a legacy while taking accounting function to the next level.
This role will work closely with cross functional teams to ensure timely and accurate recording and reporting of revenue. This role will have a dual focus on (1) upstream process efficiency within the quote to cash process and (2) streamlining our revenue recognition process under multiple elements as we integrate our existing systems to further automate and scale the business and implement new tools to manage complex revenue transactions. The ideal candidate has experience with multiple element arrangements, complex revenue transactions, can think strategically on a process level, and also execute in the details
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analysis, manual calculation, documentation and maintenance of BESP and relative selling price allocation in accordance with ASC 606
Partner with Legal, Sales Operations and Finance, Billing, Professional Services, and FP&A to drive best practices in revenue
Research accounting guidance and prepare technical memos to document Company’s position on various revenue transactions
Lead the implementation of the new revenue recognition standard
Manage revenue month-end close activities: prepare journal entries and reconciliations
Manage support for monthly close package and internal/external quarterly audit requests
Review sales arrangements to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and revenue recognition accounting standards
Assist in Sales Order quality control to ensure accuracy of order processing and to identify revenue risks
Develop and implement policies and procedures to increase efficiencies in the order to cash cycle and to strengthen the company’s control environment
Developing and documenting public company-caliber controls and procedures to assist with narratives and risk control matrices
Ad hoc requests as needed.
5+ years of revenue recognition experience, preferably with Big 4 Public Accounting and corporate experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (plus CPA preferred)
Knowledge of revenue recognition US GAAP (ASC606)
Excellent presentation and communication skills are required to communicate technical accounting requirements to non-technical audience
Detailed-oriented with excellent analytical skills
Excellent computer skills with MS Office software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong financial systems background, Software as a Service (SaaS) and Intacct experience is a plus
